Where to start?

Such a busy weekend.  I don't know where to start.

I think that last week and this coming week will be the busiest for me.  On top of all the meetings and work related stuff, there is all the holiday prep.

I can't help but squeeze in a little crafting, though.  On a cooking blog I enjoy, Mommy's Kitchen, (click for link) I read about an ornament wreath project that caught my interest.  I rarely attempt these sorts of things but I really like Christmas decorations so I gave it a whirl.

To make the wreath using ornaments I first had to figure out what color combination I liked.  I wouldn't normally have gone with silver but I had a cute ribbon I wanted to use.  So off to Walmart I went to buy some inexpensive ornaments.  After all, there is no guarantee I won't land on one of the Pinterest wreck-type sights.  No need to spend a whole lot of money.

I had my husband bend a wire hanger into a circle per the instructions.

He just cut it off below the twisty part and bent back the ends to form a catch.

Get out the glue gun and set to work.

Pull the little tops off and glue them back in place.  It only takes a little glue otherwise it leaks out the end and fills the hole you'll need for hanging them.

Start randomly stringing them onto the hanger.

They sort of go this way and that way but you can twist and turn them until you like what you see.

I found these little ornament candies and added those as I was stringing the balls.

My bow needs trimmed but I like the end result.  (I had two balls left that I went back and added to that open area on the right.)

It adds some nice color to the front door. (It was hard to get a good picture.  The silver balls look gold.)  You'll just have to trust me that it looks way better in real life.

It was so easy and inexpensive that I could make more if I found a color combination that I liked better.

Ugh...17 days...but I'm writing this so late it's really closer to 16.  I plan to be at the mall when the doors open tomorrow.  Knock on wood the bad weather misses us.
